ARIDNYA’S POV
Today, I had a meeting with foreign client, It took lot of time as they are staying out of the city in a resort. Then I showed them our factory.
I spent whole day outside. Thankfully, aashvi doesn’t insist to come with me, it was hectic day. As nishita and papa declared going to shopping and my little one agreed instantly. Usually, she likes to come with me when I go out of the city but I never let her come in front of any client.
At the time I reached home. Day turned into night. I rang the bell and papa opened the door. I caught his expression he smiled at me but his smile didn’t reached to his eyes. As I entered, I saw what is the reason?
The glass table filled with large dishes, where gifts and saree placed in the dishes. My eyes goes widened soon as I realized this is the shagun.
“In the evening, Parmeet ji and Rajeshri ji had come with dadi, asking for your hand for meet” My doubt cleared, my breath hitched. I looked at papa, he was happy as he caressed my hair but I noticed lingering tension on his face.
“Di” I heard soft heavy voice from the opposite direction where nishita stood with hard expression and I knew I had to answer her.
Papa patted my back, “You can talk to her after dinner” He said pointing two of us. She must be wait for me for dinner as sometime papa eats with aashvi.
I changed into comfortable wear, till the time, aashvi was asleep on the bed, coloring a sketch in her drawbook. I tugged her inside the blanket, adjusting her pillow near her side. I paused looking at her peaceful face, I kissed her forehead.
My everything
We had dinner in slience no one spoke a single word. After dinner I went inside her room. She sat on the chair in the balcony, staring outside. I sat front of her.
“Nishi….” I called her getting her attention. She sat straight, giving her whole attention to me.
“You take this decision because of me, right? I should have know earlier, why rajeshri aunty stopped Aryan for telling everyone about me.” she had already reached to conclusion. I stared at her for a minute. My mind was forming appropriate words to explain situation but before I say something she said.
“Di, you don’t need to marry meet bhai, I’ll convince everyone, I…”
“Relax” I said reducing her panic state. She was blaming herself that the exact thing I don’t want. Tears slipped from her eyes, I wiped them quickly.
“Everything is solved, don’t blame yourself. Yes, earlier I was mad at aunty but then I thought about it calmly and I feel it’s a right decision.” I said being half unsure.
“We mutually decide it, so don’t think about anything now, shaadi sar pe hain aise, mood accha rakh apna, aur soja ab warns dark circles aajeyenge” I said trying to ease the tense air in the room. I stood up to walk back to my room but I stopped when next words left from her lips.
“Waise, pehle aapki shaadi hone waali hai meet bhai se” I turned to look back at her, my lips parted as I was stunned to speak anything.
I came out of my trance when a heard knock on the door. Papa entered.
“This is your parcel” He said giving a brown packet to her.
“Oh! Aryan gifted me this earrings, he doesn’t had time to give me personally as their whole family went to do jewelry shopping for your marriage today” and another wave of shock consumed me, giving me realization of my fixed marriage.
“Yes, dnya, Parmeet ji said they want your marriage before nishita and aryan and it’s right to marry elders first, so I agreed” Papa said and suddenly I realized, they agreed for our marriage?
Yes, and i have to face them all not as a nishita’s elder sister but their soon to be elder daughter- in- law. It’s embarrassing as an introvert person.
“They said they will ask to their pandit ji and let us know your marriage date. So, Parmeet ji called me now, He said pandit ji gave auspicious date for the marriage, it’s next Sunday and day after tomorrow, engagement in their house and wedding in the farmhouse”
There was happiness and sadness reflecting in his eyes and I noticed that, till the yesterday, his only one daughter was going to leave this house but now me too with his heart aashvi.
MEET”S POV
It was hectic to come along with woman in their shopping spirit. I am just stood there staring hundreds of colors women and men wears, and I can’t decide to single one.
It’s not even complete 24 hours since padit ji declared the auspicious day, next Sunday for our marriage and maa dragged me here.
“Maa, how about this one for haldi” Maa asked to dadi, showing her golden white saree for my haldi ceremony. To not forget MY HALDI
I still digesting the fact that in a week my title being bachelor will snatch from me as I’ll receive a new title, Married.
I am going to marry Aridnya
I sighed as some unknown feeling wash over me but I decide to concentrate on ladies front of me.
“Acchi hai, lelo” Dadi said smilingly. Since my marriage fixed, she so happy, looking at her I feel calm in my heart.
“ Bhabhi, hi saree kashiye mehendi saathi?” Sarita chachi asked placing a saree near maa. Maa touched the fabric of that saree.
“Thik ahe pan jara sooth kadak aahe” Maa said making chachi hummed sliding that saree aside.
“What you guys looking these old sarees, look something new, fashionable sarees, like this one” Maanvi bua showed a saree placing on her shoulder. It’s satin purple saree which caught everyone’s attention. Unknowingly mine too.
“Wow, Aridnya di will surely like this one” Anvita said and all agree with her.
“Yes, being a fashion designer Bhabhi will like this saree” Daksh gave his opinion when nobody asked him.
Daksh coughed after sipping his mango drink, standing beside me and ask sliding his hand around my shoulder, “Bhai, aapko kya lagta hai?” I push away his hand, glaring at him as suddenly all ladies attention was on me. Their smug teasing expression was killing me.
“Ahh! Yes, this is bhai’s fav color” Anvita jumped in, It’s not purple is my favorite color, but I like this color.
“Thik hai” I said nonchalantly ignoring their looks.
“Saree is fine, but you’re not fine, bhai you need a Makeover, chalo pehle kuch sensible kapde lete hai, phir saloon jake hair style change” This time Aryan said. Daksh smirked.
“Haan, warna aridnya di kahi ye na kehde, Main kya karu ram, mujhe Buddha mil gaya” He sung dramatically, I shot him glare.
“You…”
“Sahi keh raha hai wo, Daksh lejao isse” Maa ordered and I looked at my bua, who was smirking at me clearly enjoying the scene.
And my brothers dragged me some places
